Important Information and Upcoming Events

Due to weather concerns, Field Day is rescheduled for Friday, March 8, 2019.  This is the Friday before spring break.  Please mark your calendar for this new date.  More information will be provided as we get closer.

On Friday, November 16, be on the lookout for all of our colonial era time travelers dressed in colonial dresses and old fashioned hats and suits.  All 5th Grade students will enjoy a trip through time to Colonial America where they will learn to knit, cook Johnny cakes, make their own butter, create tin punch art, experience a one-room schoolhouse, and enjoy some old-fashioned non-electronic games.

The PTA will be hosing our annual canned food drive during November 26-30, the week following Thanksgiving break, collecting canned food items to help feed those in need in our community.  Cans will be collected at the stage in the Gym at morning drop off.  We will provide more details as we get closer to this event.  If you have any questions, please contact programs@brinkerpta.org.  Thank you for helping those in need in Plano.

It seems that everything gets lost and most things never get found.  At Brinker, there are a lot of both!  Has your child lost a jacket?  A sweatshirt? A lunchbox?  These are some of the things that are currently in the school's Lost & Found.  Items that are found around the school and playground are placed in the Lost & Found located near the cafeteria.  If your child has lost something this year, please have them check the rack very soon as unclaimed items will be removed and donated to local organizations during the Thanksgiving break.

It may be cold and rainy, but do not let that dampen your Brinker spirit!  We have added stock in sweatshirts and long sleeve T-shirts.   Click here to order from our 2018-19 designs.  Friday is Brinker Spirit Day, so show your Brinker pride by wearing spirit wear proudly every Friday! For any questions, please contact us at spiritwear@brinkerpta.org.

The Brinker PTA has many events and activities throughout the school year where volunteers are needed.  If you are looking for a great way to get involved, complete a volunteer interest form.  Completing this form does not commit you to volunteering; it only adds you to the contact list to receive more detailed information.  To help out directly in your child's classroom, please consider volunteering for homeroom or lead homeroom representative.  We need strong volunteers to help put together the classroom parties and other class specific events.  For additional information, please contact the Grade Level Coordinator at gradelevelreps@brinkerpta.org or the VP of Volunteers at volunteers@brinkerpta.org.

Have you completed a PISD Volunteer Application for the 2018-19 school year? PISD requires all volunteers to complete a new application EVERY school year, and security checks are strictly enforced to ensure the safety of our students and staff.  We encourage ALL parents to complete and submit an application, whether you are one of our volunteers or just planning to attend a classroom party.  For additional information, please contact our VP of Volunteers at volunteers@brinkerpta.org.

Our V.I.P. Program is an awesome, fun way for parents, grandparents, or community members to volunteer and help our Brinker students directly.  You would commit half an hour a week to assist a student who needs a little extra help in math and/or reading, boosting the student’s confidence in his/her academics.  You do not need to be a teacher or a former teacher.  The student’s teacher will provide you with the assignments and information for each tutoring session.  If interested, please e-mail viptutors@brinkerpta.org.
