As we “fall” into November the PTA would like to give thanks for our amazing Brinker families, friends and staff for their generous contributions of time, supplies, ideas and resources. Thank you Kate for your contributions to Brinker and the PTA! Please congratulate Kate when you see her at school!
STAFF BREAKFAST - THANK YOU!
A big thank you to all of our Brinker parents who volunteered to do early morning food pick ups or donated items to our Staff Fall Breakfast. A special thank you to PINSTACK for donating the delicious breakfast burritos and fruit tray. The teachers and staff truly enjoyed this special treat.
RECYCLING SHOES AND CLOTHING NEVER MADE MORE CENTS
Be a part of diverting thousands of pounds of shoes and clothing from local landfills by filling our shoes and clothing donation bin with your gently used shoes, clothing, purses, belts, wallets, hats, caps, backpacks, hard toys, stuffed animals and pots and pans.
For every pound collected from you, our PTA receives $0.15 per pound. The benefit to you? Neater closets, drawers, toy boxes, and kitchens, and the knowledge that less textile waste will end up in our local landfills.

This time will be spent on work assignments and projects for all grade levels, including PACE and Special Education.
All instructions and supplies are provided. The Brinker Workroom is located inside the library and is available each week, Tuesday through Friday, 7:30am-2:45pm. LIBRARY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We have lots of openings for the fall library volunteer schedule. Volunteer timeslots cover 1-2 classes, and you would be helping to check-in/check-out and shelve books. It’s a great way to see your child at school! A few of our timeslots are completely full, but others have some days with no volunteers at all.
You can sign up on by clicking here to go to the PTA Membership Toolkit to find the 2017-2018 Library Volunteer form. For any questions, please e-mail email@example.com.
V.I.P. TUTORS NEEDED
Brinker would like to invite you to become a Very Important Partner (VIP) Tutor. Our VIP Program is an awesome, fun way for parents, and even grandparents or community members, to volunteer and help our Brinker students directly. You commit half an hour a week to assist a student who needs a little extra support in math and/or reading, as well as boosting the student’s confidence in their academics. If you choose to sign up to volunteer, you will submit your available days and times you can be at Brinker to tutor within the school day. The information will be given to Mrs. Stelzl, Brinker’s Reading Specialist, and you will be paired up with a student. You may also select whether you prefer to work with the younger grades or older grades, and whether you prefer to tutor in reading or math.
You do not need to be a teacher or a former teacher to be able to tutor. The students’ teachers will provide you with the provide assignments and information for each tutoring session. If you are curious or even a little interested, please give me the opportunity to talk to you about it. Please e-mail Jennifer Blice at firstname.lastname@example.org. The VIP program is a very rewarding way to help Brinker students. There is a great need for tutors, especially during the second semester. Tutoring begins in October as soon as we can assign students to volunteers, and runs through the beginning of May.

REFLECTIONS - DEADLINE EXTENDED TO NOVEMBER 3
The National PTA Reflections program encourages students of all ages and abilities to explore and be involved in the arts. Through this program, National PTA, Brinker PTA, and PTAs across the country urge students to create and submit original works of art in the medium of their choice— dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts — reflecting on a specific theme, Within Reach. There also is a special artist division option for students with disabilities to ensure that all students have the opportunity to participate in the program. Students are recognized each year for their artistic ingenuity to bring the theme to life in a way that is personal and meaningful. Click hereto see the flier for more details

BRINKER MARATHONERS CLUB
The Brinker Elementary PTA is excited to once again be supporting the Brinker Marathoners Club. The Brinker Marathoners Club was created by the PE coaching team to encourage students to continue to make healthy and active choices. This year, however, students will only be able to earn miles during PE class. Miles accumulated will continue to be rewarded with toe tokens at different distances and with our, newly designed, 26.2 mile t-shirt. Students have already started to record their miles.
