TUESDAY TUNES: APRIL PERFORMERS
We wanted to give thanks to all the very talented students who performed in Tuesday Tunes in April - Anushree Dindukurthi, Edgar Poon, and Kayden Zhong. They continue to share their favorite music and talent with their fellow students. Additionally, our young musicians are also gaining confidence and motivation to practice, while meeting new friends at Brinker who play instruments.
VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH: JULIE CHISUM
Congratulations to Julie Chisum, our Brinker PTA, volunteer of the month. Julie is an active Brinker PTA member and her friendly face can be seen often at Brinker. She volunteers in her daughter, Katelyn's, 1st grade classroom and son, Connor's 3rd grade classroom, chaperones class field trips, and works in the library regularly.
Julie also helps behind the scenes at Brinker. Julie and her company, ProPac Marketing, designed the logo and sponsor banner for our Brinker Color Fun Run . She also produced the promotional video and contributed greatly to the success of the Fun Run. Thank you Julie for your many contributions to Brinker and our PTA!
WATCH D.O.G.S. RECAP
As we close out on another successful year of the Watch D.O.G.S. program, I want to say thank you to the over 100 fathers and father-figures that came to Brinker to be a Hero of the Hallways. In only its third year at Brinker, the Watch D.O.G.S. program has successfully established itself as a key program at the school to get men involved with their children’s educations and to support the community. The look on our children’s faces when they see the men in their Watch D.O.G.S. t-shirts is priceless.
On May 4, bicyclists from the across the United States will join together to celebrate National Bike to School Day. Bike to School events work to create safer routes for bicycling and walking, and emphasize the importance of increasing physical activity among children, bicycling safety, and building connections between families, schools and the broader community. Be sure to mark your calendars and participate in the fun!
On May 7, Collin County voters residing within the Plano ISD attendance zone will be asked to consider a single proposition to provide $481 million toward eight major project areas with no increase to the tax rate. If approved, all Plano ISD campuses will be impacted by district-wide security updates, renovations and facility upgrades, as well as technology improvements. Visit www.pisd.edu/2016bondfor more information.

WORKROOM HELP NEEDED
If you can count to 28, use a paper cutter, tear out pages from a workbook and staple, then the Brinker Workroom needs you! We need at least 4-5 volunteers each week to help our teachers with behind the scenes work. This time will be spent on work assignments and projects for all grade levels, including PACE and Special Education.
All instructions and supplies are provided. The Brinker Workroom is located inside the library and is available each week, Tuesday through Friday (7:30am-2:45pm). To volunteer, go to the Orders/Volunteering tab on the PTAMembership Toolkitand look for the Teacher Workroom volunteer form.
This is a great opportunity to see what our children are learning and give a helping hand to our wonderful teachers! If you have any questions, please contact Ritu Narayan at email@example.com.
LIBRARY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We have lots of openings for the spring library volunteer schedule. Volunteer timeslots cover 1-2 classes, and you would be helping to check-in/check-out and shelve books. It’s a great way to see your child at school! A few of our time slots are completely full, but others have some days with no volunteers at all. Click here to see the teacher library times for all grades.
You can sign up on Toolkit – just look for the 2015-2016 Library Volunteer form. For any questions, please e-mail Heather Burchett at firstname.lastname@example.org.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES FOR NEXT YEAR
Believe it or not, it's already time to start thinking about next year!
In an effort to make your back to school experience a little less stressful, the Brinker PTA is offering you the opportunity to purchase your child's school supplies online for the 2016-2017 school year. School supply packets will go on sale TODAY and orders will only be accepted through Friday, June 10 (one week after school gets out). Will we NOT be placing a second order this year. This is your ONLY chance to order school supplies online.
You might be thinking, "School doesn't start until August. I've got plenty of time to think about supplies." Here are the top reasons why you should order early:
Your student's supplies will be IN THEIR CLASSROOM at Meet the Teacher. (This will give them the chance to label, sort, organize, etc. and be ready to go on the first day of school.)
Saves gas from driving all over town looking for that specific item your grade is requesting.
Helps Brinker's PTA provide wonderful programming for our kids.
One less thing to do during the craziness of the beginning of the school year.
Check your student's bag this week for a flyer on how to purchase your supplies through the PTA membership toolkit. For questions, contact Jennifer Hersh email@example.com.
SAVE THE DATE
